Dr. Jeremiah E. Stevens, a first-generation student, completed his BS in chemistry at Wright State University in Dayton, OH, from 2016–2019. His undergradate research on computational and materials chemistry, conducted jointly under Dr. Roberto Aga and Prof. Rachel Aga, focused on the development of aerosol-jet printing of nanocomposite ink formulations and the computational modeling of phase behavior in polymer:fullerene bulk heterojunction solar cells.

After completing his undergraduate degree, Jeremiah enrolled in the chemistry Ph.D. program at The Ohio State University in 2019. There, he joined the laboratory of Prof. Christine M. Thomas, where he studied computational modeling of the electronic structure of strongly correlated transition metal complexes as well as the inert-atmosphere small molecule activation and catalysis by an intermediate spin (S = 1) square planar Fe(II) complex based on an aryl-linked bis(phosphine)bis(amido) ligand, (PNNP)Fe. Concurrent to his research in the Thomas Lab, he also worked under crystallographer Dr. Curtis E. Moore as the X-ray Facility TA during the latter half of his doctoral studies.

Following the completion of his Ph.D. in December 2023, Jeremiah transitioned to a full-time postdoctoral scholar position in the X-ray Facility at Ohio State, where he collected, refined, and solved both single-crystal and powder XRD data for internal and external clients. Jeremiah also maintained the facility equipment, trained new users ranging from undergraduate students up to faculty members, and managed all aspects of laboratory safety and compliance for the X-ray Facility.

In July 2024, Jeremiah accepted an offer from the United States Patent & Trademark Office, becoming a patent examiner in art unit 1726, where he performs all aspects of patent application prosecution for applications pertaining to batteries and fuel cells (CPC subclass H01M).

Outside of his passions for chemistry and teaching, Jeremiah has a number of interests, including aviation, repairing and building electronics, fixing cars, riding his motorcycle, woodworking, playing pickleball, hiking, and reading non-fiction books on a variety of topics.
